Veronika Psotková was born in 1981 in Opava. This sculptor, who graduated from the sculpture studio of Michal Gabriel at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, focuses particularly on figurative art. Her works are along two parallel lines, the first of which is more realistic, with an influence of classical sculpture and pop culture and the second consists of configurations of wire figures. Visitors to the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art had the opportunity to see Psotkova's wire sculptures three years ago at the DOXnano exhibition.
This time, specially for the cafe terrace in the DOX Centre, she has created six larger than life figures of six different types of women, whose physical development and proportional imperfections are far removed the perceptions of beauty promoted via the media. In this however, they are closer to the reality of everyday life, without embellishment.
