Where Is My Home – students´posters exhibition

13 Mar – 21 Apr 2014

In 2013, the Czech Council on Foreign Relations announced a poster contest for students of art colleges on the subject of “Where Is My Home?” as part of the project of the same name by the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art.

Via artwork, students seek answers to questions such as: Is our home even important to us? Is it part of our identity? Is our home just our family environment, or does it include the sharing of common values with our family, with our immediate society, with our region, our state, Europe, or the entire world? Do our politicians affect our perception of home – do we still have it, or are we ashamed of what is going on here?

The goal of the project is to jointly search for an answer to the question in the project’s name, which includes not only criticism of political demagoguery and manipulation, but above all a search for the positive significance of the notion of home in creating civic identity and political subjectivity at various levels, from local societies in villages and small towns up to larger territorial wholes (local regions, states and global regions).

A total of 138 students from the Czech Republic, Romania and Great Britain participated in the project.

The project was organized by the Czech Council on Foreign Relations in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in the Czech Republic as part of the European Year of Citizens 2013.
