Art in Your Pocket

1 Jun – 24 Sep 2018

An educational programme from the THE ROLE(S) IN ART catalogue for the CHIHULY –  LIBENSKÝ – BRYCHTOVÁ exhibition.

The “viewer” role.

What all is covered by the term contemporary art and what paths does art show us? What is a work of art and how can we distinguish it from other objects in the gallery? And where is the border between such a work and its author? And where is the border between exhibited work and viewer-participant?

The conviction that the viewer participates in the creation of the work provides this programme its main basis for an exciting search; a search for works of art and works of non-art. During an interactive viewing of a current exhibition and during an art workshop, participants are encouraged to express themselves actively. And various clues lead us to the realization that each one of us can be an artist, and that art can even be created from the contents of our own pockets.
