Educational programme for the ULTRASUPERNATURAL exhibition

Have you ever found yourself in a situation when it was virtually impossible to differentiate between what is real and what is made up? How do we understand the world around us? Can we know and understand it? Things are accelerating, and our attention is constantly distracted by new stimuli. Falsehood cloaks itself words and images that we know intimately and are completely self-evident to us.

The educational format entitled PROGRAMME explores the various means of manipulation that we are subjected to in the contemporary world. The exhibition Barbora Šlapetová and Lukáš Rittstein is the result of a project of more than twenty years. It tells the life story of the artists and the last native tribe in Papua New Guinea, the Yali Mek. Exploration of the different and unknown can give us an opportunity to think about the condition of truth in the contemporary world. We focus on the topics of fake news or disinformation and alternative facts in order to understand the mechanisms that seduce and mislead us.

The aim of the educational programme is to allow students to experience the difference between the ability to manipulate the content of a photograph and how photographs can manipulate us. The introductory presentation will be followed by a tour of the exhibition and a workshop in which students will search for the boundary between truth and untruth, more precisely, lies.
