Has an ad on Google every surprised you by promoting something that you are expecting to be delivered tomorrow by courier? Have you ever thought about how YouTube recommends the next video? Don’t you sometimes get the feeling that your life is being controlled by some sort of algorithm? If you answered “no” to all these questions, that’s OK. Perhaps it’s still time for a data detox. Time to look at your own digital profile and to stop and think about companies who run the internet for you for free know about your privacy. You say you have nothing to hide? This interactive lecture isn’t about hiding, but rather about how “what we do today” can affect our future decision-making.
During the lecture we will demonstrate how you can enjoy greater anonymity on the internet, and together we will look for answers as to why this is actually important to us. We recommend brining your own smartphone.
