Bodies on the Line

1 Jun – 24 Sep 2018

An educational programme from the THE ROLE(S) IN ART catalogue for the CHIHULY –  LIBENSKÝ – BRYCHTOVÁ exhibition.

the “artist” role

What does it mean to put your “body on the line”? This educational programme provides the opportunity to address uncommon topics by exploring various “versions of an artist”: their motivation, fascination, and frustrations. Daniel Pešta presents issues of social and genetic predetermination as well as long years of exploring one’s own body. These distinctive artists often find themselves at the limits of what we consider “normal”.

And what about us? What fascinates us? What problems do we have, what troubles us, and what can we and want to do about it? Right from its initial activity, the programme searches for the meaning of words like “freedom”, “courage”, or “protest”. In the subsequent tour of the exhibition, we go deeper and collect material for our own “artistic” expression. What will you say about the present and your world? Come put your body on the line.

The educational programme contains discussions, exhibition-based activities, and ends with a workshop. Individual parts of the programme and naturally balanced and adapted to the age of the group.
