Alžběta Tichá: Frequency

Let the body speak!
This project reveals the often invisible physical impacts and inner reactions of the body during performance. It explores the complex relationship between body, mind, and technology, offering an inspiring and intense experience both for the audience and for the artist herself.

Frekvence touches upon the body’s physical responses and emotions reacting to both external and internal stimuli. What happens when we feel nothing at all? When everything is frozen, and emotions fade away?
And on the contrary – what happens when we go through an extreme physical and emotional rollercoaster without knowing where we will end up? Is there a difference between what we see and what is truly happening inside our body?

These themes grow from the performer’s personal experiences, giving the audience a chance to enter her world and share both her inner and outer journey.

In Frekvence, Betka Tichá uses body-monitoring technology – measuring her heartbeat live, both on the ground and in aerial acrobatics. Data collected from her body are directly connected in real time with sound and light, which respond to her physical and mental state. The whole performance thus becomes fully synchronized with her body, creating an intimate and dynamic image of human perception and emotions.
