View into the Archive II

The second exhibition from the cycle View into the Archive introduces next group of documents – posters. The exhibition is not focused on film and theatre posters, which are also saved and stored at the archive, but it will particularly introduce less known posters of exhibitions and other events. The exhibition presents graphic design which should be considered not only as a source of information but also as a specific kind of artwork.

The Archive of fine arts collects, elaborates and accesses information and documents about contemporary - particularly Czech and Slovakian - art. On the website www.artarchiv.cz the archive runs its own information system called abART. The database can distinguish more than 150 kinds of documents including books, catalogues, invitations, magazines, clippings, photographs, diapositives, envelopes, letters, visiting-cards, calendars or lists of exhibited works.
