Educational programme from the permanent offer of The Role of Art / Roles in Art for the exhibition Cyberlemon.
Role: “Artist”
What does it mean to “stick your neck out”? What role does courage and the ability to go your own way play in any kind of creation? The works of artists, writers, composers, and others often invite us into their own stories, and authenticity is valued, whether it conveys beauty, joy, or despair. The reaction may be immediate, or it may take time, but the original creator is always sticking their neck out.
In a time of fracturing societies marked by the rise of extremist ideologies, our cultural landscape is increasingly marked by artificial intelligence, and we are also seeing original activities and movements that comment on (not only) contemporary developments. The artist Hynek Martinec is straddling the line between user and critic and has chosen a lemon – a cyberlemon – as the “main character” of his exhibition. With it, he traces a journey from the “cradle of civilization” in the Mediterranean to the present day and asks the question: Where are we now? How did we get here? And we will also ask: How can we relate to all this through our work?
The educational programme includes various activities, commentaries, discussions and contemplation in the exhibition - all with a final reflection.
