We invite you to the opening of the ART*VR: Festival of Virtual Reality and Immersive Art on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. The opening ceremony will include guided tours and access to the VR projects on display. Come immerse yourself in virtual worlds and explore non-human perspectives. Admission is free.
The ART∗VR Festival returns to DOX for the third time! From 21 to 26 October it will present outstanding works of virtual reality art from around the world. Over six days, ART∗VR will feature three dozen VR projects, encounters with their creators, public debates, and the international Zip-Scene Conference.
ART∗VR offers three programme sections featuring projects that have received international recognition at the most prestigious festivals, as well as works that will have their world premiere at DOX:
- International Competition: fifteen of the most significant VR projects of the past year. Artistic VR films, interactive experiences, and installations that push the boundaries of the medium.
- More-than-Human Perspectives: a thematic section dedicated to projects that challenge the boundary between humans, nature, and technology. Selected projects explore new ways of coexistence in an interconnected world, and examine the perspectives of plants, animals, technologies, and artificial intelligence. This section will be exhibited until 23 November 2025.
- AsteRisk*: a special section focused on human rights and socially engaged VR projects. Interactive works that merge art with activism and spark discussions on pressing contemporary issues.
A highlight of this year’s edition is also the Fulldome Competition: four public screenings will present audiences with the best of current international fulldome art. The selected films will be shown in collaboration with the newly renovated Prague Planetarium.
The event will also include the Zip-Scene Conference (October 23–25), bringing more than 40 XR researchers and creators from around the world to Prague. The public will have the opportunity to meet the authors of the showcased works in panel discussions.
The festival will also organize screenings for primary and secondary school students, offering a specially curated educational programme focused on more-than-human perspectives and related topics.
Full festival programme can be found on www.artvr.cz.
