The exhibition Olbram Zoubek and Friends has been organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of sculptor Olbram Zoubek (1926–2017). The Archive of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Kmentová Zoubek Foundation, has conceived the exhibition in an unconventional way as a showcase of photographs by a variety of artists. The photographs capture Zoubek’s life and work in the context of his friends and figures from his immediate circle. Although Zoubek is known to the public primarily as the creator of numerous sculptural works for architecture, the exhibited photographs offer a unique glimpse into his studio, exhibition openings, and gallery spaces.
Olbram Zoubek belonged to the close circle of friends and supporters of Galerie H in Kostelec nad Černými lesy, where the history of the Archive of Fine Arts began in the second half of the 1980s. Olbram Zoubek played a role in the founding of the civic association (later the society) Archive of Fine Arts; he was a full member and a lifelong supporter.
