What forms can a fight take? And can beauty be one of its expressions?
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Qubus Design Studio and brand, a unique authorial jewel was created by Ester Geislerová and Veronika Velčovská Jiroušková. The necklace is a symbol of solidarity, courage, and respect for women who carry the experience of war in their bodies, memories, and everyday lives. It reminds us that fighting does not have to be waged only with weapons – it can also take the form of care, resilience, and beauty.
The piece will be auctioned in a silent auction, with proceeds supporting the independent Kyiv-based art collective Hinaus, contributing to the support of artists and designers affected by war in Ukraine.
The unique jewel by artists Ester Geislerová and Veronika Velčovská Jiroušková carries the fitting name "Beauty In Resistance". The object, shaped like traditional Ukrainian coral necklaces and featuring metal elements from bullet casings, is inspired by Ukrainian aesthetics and the national flag. It symbolizes the necessity of fighting and the symbolic and healing power of minerals. The necklace is a healing object made of real minerals, whose colors blend into a delicate rainbow created by the combination of the Czech and Ukrainian flags.
