ART∗VR, the largest festival of virtual and augmented reality films in central and eastern Europe, will take place for the fourth time at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, which is a co-producer of the event. This year’s theme, Circles of Intimacy, asks whether physicality and closeness in VR can offer us new stimuli, showing that intimacy isn’t just about explicit content but also about friendship, coming out, or a relationship with someone who has passed away. The international competition section will feature the film The Pigeon Ring, which recently won the Immersive Grand Prize at the Venice Film Festival, as well as two world premieres. The narrators of this year’s projects include actors Mark Ruffalo and Viggo Mortensen. The festival will return to the digital cupola of the Prague Planetarium with ten fulldome films and also make its debut at the Signal Space gallery. The main part of the festival runs from 10 to 15 November 2026, and its main thematic exhibition section will be open to the public at DOX until 13 December. The complete programme can be found at artvr.cz.
