DOX invites you to a series of summer movie nights under the stars. Get hit by the movie She said.
Harvey Weinstein was once one of Hollywood’s biggest producers. The drama She said chronicles the events that led to his downfall and exposed one of the most terrifying secrets of the famous dream factory.
On October 5, 2017, an article was published in The New York Times that shook Hollywood to its core. The article exposed one of the most prominent film producers, Harvey Weinstein (winner of six Oscars in the most prestigious category, “Best Picture,” among other accolades), as a sexual predator. For decades, the producer abused his position of power by “selling” film careers in exchange for sexual favors. He got away with it for years, silencing his victims with money or destroying their careers. No one was willing to openly confront him. It wasn’t until two New York Times reporters, Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) and Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan), took on the unequal battle that things began to change. They knew that the key to their story would be finding a woman who wasn’t afraid to speak out. The drama The Revenge of the Victim closely resembles the acclaimed classics All the President’s Men and Spotlight with its honest and detailed, almost detective-like reconstruction of the work of two journalists who took on an unequal opponent against whom, at first glance, they didn’t stand a chance of success. In their quest to find a Weinstein victim who would stop being afraid, they gradually realize that the story they are preparing could have a profound impact not only on the alleged abuser and his victims, but also on society as a whole and its perception of the concept of “sexual violence”.
