Open art workshops for the current exhibitions of the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art.
Pictures, installations, lights, films, experiments, and emotions. All this and open seminars and workshops for current exhibitions at DOX and in the Spielraum Kollektiv light laboratory. An afternoon with contemporary art for children and the child in their parents.
Programme
Light laboratory
(Spielraum Kollektiv: Iluminatorium)
Immerse yourself in the magic of light! The light laboratory is an interactive space where children (5–12 years old) and their parents can discover the wonder of optics through play. Using overhead projectors, light sources, exploration-worthy objects and music, we will work together to create magical light paintings and experiments. The laboratory will also include short performative contributions from Illuminatorium, an emerging production that connects theatre, music and science through play with light. Join the experimentation and become part of the light theatre for a while!
Open workshops for exhibitions:
Other worlds
Open art workshop for the exhibition Orhan Pamuk: The Consoltation of Objects
"We are never the same, the proximity of others changes us, accentuates different features, and very rarely highlights them all at once. There are whole worlds hidden in each person, and some of them never come to the surface." These few lines were written by someone completely different from the famous Orhan Pamuk, and yet they resonate with the workshops for his exhibition. Works of art are also other worlds that we can discover, bring to the surface. And art making is an ideal way of exploring ourselves and the world around us - you can engage your mind, intuition, hands and heart. So many other worlds.
Under the peel
Open art workshop for the exhibition Cyberlemon
The main character in Hynek Martinec's exhibition is a lemon. In the exhibition it appears both very prominently and sometimes completely hidden. Even the lemon itself is secretive - beneath the seemingly impenetrable peel hides a juicy, flavourful interior. And the Cyberlemon exhibition itself can be seen in a similar way - Hynek Martinec, a masterful painter and illustrator, plays with meanings and often unexpected connections can be discovered not only in his paintings. And the very technique of painting can do the same. You will experience it in a classic and slightly different form; we will explore what is under the peel.
Black and white
Open art workshop for the exhibition David Lynch: Up in Flames
The David Lynch exhibition has received an incredible response. This may be because he made a name for himself as an original filmmaker, but he would never have been so inspiring without his unique and passionate approach to classic techniques such as drawing and printmaking. And yet the exhibition is, with a few exceptions, almost entirely in black and white! What does black and white evoke in a person? We use simple graphic printing techniques to materialise our ideas - to layer, engrave, inscribe, print.
Hidden
Open art workshop for the exhibition Point of View 3: Balance
Whatever field of human activity one is engaged in, it always turns out that one does not know and is not able to do everything yet, or that one could discover more and more. This is true of nature, science, art, philosophy, etc. Often the most difficult thing is to find integration and understanding in your knowledge with a completely different view of the world. And it is precisely in the case of technology and nature that the small exhibition Angle of View 3: Balance tries to find a kind of equilibrium through its size. And there will be other small contributions to the topic from workshop participants - the design of balance is often very small and subtle, but all the more significant.
