Educational programme from the permanent offer of ROLE (IN) ART for the exhibition MILKOV

role “artist”

What does it mean to “stick your neck out”? What role does courage and the ability to go your own way play in any kind of creation? The works of artists, writers, composers, and others often invite us into their own stories, and authenticity is valued, whether it conveys beauty, joy, or despair. The reaction may be immediate, or it may take time, but the original creator is always sticking their neck out.

MILKOV is the largest solo exhibition to date of sculptor Stefan Milkov (1955), co-founder of the legendary group Tvrdohlaví, which included Petr Nikl and František Skála. The exhibition of sculptures is accompanied by large-scale paintings. Different forms and various materials show mini-stories and mythological scenes, an angel’s rustling wings, a broken sun chariot in the desert, rivers on the horizon, and the rise of modern civilization. This is the landscape of Stefan Milkov and his sculptures and paintings that demand concentration and reflection. It’s not an easy read, but certainly worth it and inspires pupils and students to express themselves in a personal and authentic way.

The educational programme includes various activities, commentaries, discussions and contemplation in the exhibition - all with a final reflection.
