The Internet and especially social networks make active use of the phenomenon of popularity. The more likes, followers, tweets, posts, blogs, photos… the greater trust people place a virtual identity. Since the start of the new millennium the rapid development of the internet has been defined by user content. This has established new rules in the world of popularity. On the one hand, the internet has democratized access to the media, but on the other it has released an avalanche of content that is difficult to control and often exceed the limits of our imagination as well as our imagination. The internet never ceases to amaze us and simultaneously infuriate us. Here, software created by systematic algorithms mixes with human unpredictability.

But in this digital world, everything can be fake. Here we're increasingly surrounded not only by pretence and trickery, created by people themselves, but also by a completely new reality. A reality created by the world of synthetic media that confront us with new questions and challenges. But what place does falsity have beyond the reach of the internet? Does make-up beautify or is it a mask? And what about us? When do we lie and when do we distort?

The goal of this educational programme is to get students to stop and think about the significance of pretence in our lives. We will thoroughly examine the term "fake news" in order to better prepare our critical thinking for a reality in which it will be harder to distinguish authentic from fake, real from synthetic.

Keywords: fake, influencer, synthetic reality, critical design
