In collaboration with Edison Filmhub, we bring you a screening of Redoubtable as part of the DOX Summer Cinema

Paris 1967. Jean-Luc Godard, the leading filmmaker of his generation, is shooting La Chinoise with the woman he loves, Anne Wiazemsky, 20 years his junior. They are happy, attractive, in love. They marry. But the film’s reception unleashes a profound self-examination in Jean-Luc. The events of May ’68 will amplify this process, and the crisis that shakes the filmmaker. Deep-rooted conflicts and misunderstandings will change him irrevocably. Revolutionary, off-the-wall, destructive, brilliant, he will pursue his choices and his beliefs to the breaking point… As he did with The Artist, Academy Award® winning director Michel Hazanavicius delivers another tribute to classic cinema, both wildly funny and deeply moving.

Film version:
France, 2017, 103 min
Language: FR, EN, IT
Directed by: Michel Hazanavicius
Genre: drama, historically, comedy, biographical
Age rating: 15+
Film is shown in the original language with Czech and English subtitles.

Keep exploring

KAFKAesque

The exhibition KAFKAesque focuses on reflections on Kafka’s work and poetics in contemporary visual art offering not a historical perspective of his work, but a view that reflects our present-day situation with all its complexities and ambiguities.

Pavel Forman: TransForman

The exhibition will present thirty of the latest works by the painter Pavel Forman. The title of the exhibition can be understood as a play on words, referring of course to the artist’s name and at the same time to his favourite forms and approaches, which are in a sense “trans”, i.e. metamorphosing, transitional or mutating.

Point of View: Identity

Another instalment of the long-term project, which combines the format of an exhibition and a classroom and focuses on the theme of human identity. Who am I? What am I? The human form naturally takes centre stage; the body, its clothing, its behaviour. A person's identity and the different ways of looking at it.

DOX Summer Cinema

We are introducing a unique summer project combining DOX and Edison Filmhub. Together we have prepared a summer cinema in a unique location – on the roof of DOX+, offering a total of 11 screenings on a large outdoor screen and great sound with wireless headphones.

Adam Štech: houellebecq!

The exhibition houellebecq! by Adam Štech is neither a tribute to the French writer Michel Houellebecq nor an illustration of his works. Nor does it attempt to interpret or explain anything of his texts. Štech explores primarily himself, mediated in any way.

Sunset

This visually compelling historical drama follows 20-year-old Irisz Leiter, who arrives in the Hungarian capital after spending her adolescence in an orphanage, and is suddenly confronted with her own past and a dark secret surrounding her family. The movie is screened in the summer cinema on the terrace of DOX+.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Steven, a charismatic surgeon, is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice after his life starts to fall apart, when the behavior of a teenage boy he has taken under his wing turns sinister. Eye for an eye, heart for a heart. The movie is screened in the summer cinema on the terrace of DOX+.

Under the Silver Lake

A fun, multi-genre romp full of bizarre plot twists, it follows Sam as he embarks on a surreal quest to decode the secrets, scandals and conspiracies lurking in the depths of Los Angeles following the disappearance of his mysterious neighbour. The movie is screened in the summer cinema on the terrace of DOX+.

France

A celebrity journalist, juggling her busy career and personal life, has her life over-turned by a freak car accident. The movie is screened in the summer cinema on the terrace of DOX+.

Daaaaaalí!

A young French journalist tried to meet artist Salvador Dalí repeatedly for a documentary film project which never gets off the ground. The movie is screened in the summer cinema on the terrace of DOX+.

Thin Skin

A performance by established circus acrobat Eliška Brtnická and her hypnotic production Thin Skin at the interface of movement installation and contemporary circus in the spaces of the DOX Centre.

Czech Hero

Satirical physical theater production Czech Hero by the theatre ensemble Farm in the Cave, which focuses on the contemporary and pressing topic of disinformation and political marketing. Movement, words, live music, dynamics, energy, exaggeration. All this in the DOX+ hall.

Commander

The unique production combines a physical theatre performance with live music and a film starring child actors of Farm in the Cave studio to communicate an urgent, yet widely overlooked, topic – the online radicalisation of youth.

Is this the end?
No, it's the beginning.
