Galegion: Utopian City

Galegion is a 10-year research project that has joined together students of the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague and Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, in departments led by renowned architect Petr Hájek.


Art 19

Eleven world-renowned artists – Ayşe Erkmen, Shilpa Gupta, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, William Kentridge, Shirin Neshat, Yoko Ono, Gerhard Richter, Chiharu Shiota, Kiki Smith and Rosemarie Trockel – have created new artworks in support of Amnesty International.


Jiří David: I'm Here

Jiří David, a Czech multimedia artist and educator, who since the mid-1980s has exerted significant influence on the Czech art scene, presents his newest works, paintings both large and small, in an exhibition entitled I’m Here.


ULTRASUPERNATURAL

ULTRASUPERNATURAL is the culmination of a project spanning more than twenty years, undertaken by artists Barbora Šlapetová and Lukáš Rittstein. Barbora and Lukáš have devoted their lives to studying the Yali Mek, the last Papuan indigenous tribe.


TULIP

This time around, the BERG Orchestra will present music by composers currently living and working in the Netherlands. These include Joël Bons, a prominent member of the Dutch contemporary music scene, founder of the Nieuw Ensemble, and recent recipient of the Grawemeyer Award, as well as Andys Skordis, originally from Cyprus, and Giuliano Bracci, from Italy.


Essential Xenakis

The Essential Xenakis concert will be played by ONO – Ostrava New Orchestra, an international young people’s symphony orchestra founded in 2017 for the Ostrava Days festival, and motivated by the need to interpret contemporary music. The orchestra includes young Czech musicians who are thus given a unique opportunity to work with their foreign colleagues in the area of contemporary music.
